Through the looking glass

While those residing in Acela corridor and liberal enclaves continue the fantasies of Resistance along all political fronts, Americans are facing increasing issues regarding the pandemic and our dependence on China. Cycles of panic buying and shortages, increasing prices on necessities and medication - both prescription and over the counter, and a huge number of small and medium sized small businesses being wiped off the books are just some of them.
The ramifications and down order consequences of this virus have only begun to be realized. The landscape post COVID (if there is a post COVID landscape, viruses are a tricky thing to eradicate) is much different than the world we knew before.
And only some of it is due to the virus itself.
How long can airlines operate at 25-30% capacity without a government bailout? For that matter, what about all the stadiums and arenas that sit empty but still have quite a hefty mortgage that must be paid on time, usually at the expense of the taxpayer.
I guess some of the redirected police monies could fill a hole or two in out of whack municipality budgets, but somehow I doubt that fiscal responsibility is high on many urban leader’s priority lists.
Neither is public safety, apparently. Or safe roads and highways.
The world we face isn’t suitable for the regular order and establishment old-guard. Nor is it suited for a man who’s lackluster political career began before I was born. The usual way of doing business has gotten us to here, today’s myriad set of problems and division.
The leadership of the old-guard has brought us anarchist-communists openly destroying public art and churches, assaulting any and all who rise to defend our culture with the tacit approval of those elected to defend it, while telling Americans they deserve the abuse.
It’s not a long term winning strategy with the facts on the ground.
Not to be outdone by just toppling statues or burning public buildings and elected officials offices, “protestors” have started upping the ante by protesting in residential areas, spending countless hours night after night terrorizing the neighborhoods of those they deem guilty or complicit.
Happen to look out your window or open your door as these peaceful citizens stroll through your neighborhoods at two in the morning and you become a target. Threats of violence and intimidation are standard. Actually shooting at homes, vandalism and graffiti, and physical intimidation is being allowed to happen. Disagree with the methods or message, and you are categorized as a Nazi, your private information splashed across social media circles for the general public to do with as they please.
Terrifying scenes of American cities on fire, drivers attacked by protestors blocking rods and highways, widespread looting and general mayhem and lawlessness could be played on a loop if corporate media desired it. Instead we are treated to nationalized stories of bad cops and packaged narratives to fan the flames of destruction and division, literally.
While the media and leaders want to change the subject away from the stated goals of “peaceful” BLM and AntiFa protestors - destruction of everything from the nuclear family to government at every level, they are more than willing to create an atmosphere of moral and virtuous superiority of protestors and looters over the rights and freedoms all Americans are entitled to.
Folks, we are fully through the looking glass and square in the middle of bizarro world.
We are living in a near-zero trust society made worse by prolonged fear mongering and extended lockdowns. Crime is increasing in our biggest cities as their leaders play footsie with socialists and criminals, installing a virtual revolving door at jails and courthouses. George Soros endorsed District Attorneys release criminals under the guise of an epidemic while innocent people are arrested for walking in a park or attending church. And all this is happening as those same offices are using prosecutorial discretion to not charge those assaulting police, committing murder, terrorizing citizens and committing widespread destruction.
And the Washington Post... no exposés on the criminal backgrounds of these agitators and anarchists, but instead they chimed in to run a glowing profile and Saturday feature on the proper fashion for attending riots, excuse me, peaceful protests. As if electric leaf blowers, gas masks, shields and umbrellas outfitted with knives in the tips are all standard equipment when exercising your first amendment rights.
The political arguments of the left, when they are actually made, have very little bearing with what is actually happening around us. Vice President Biden has more than signaled a return to the diplomacy, taxes and discourse of the Obama Era, and all the malaise that it entailed. There isn’t a far left proposal that Biden hasn’t considered commandeering for himself and his campaign. From the Squad’s Green New Deal to Yang’s Universal Basic Income, Biden is trying to be all things to all leftists and the rest of us are asking if he’s even hearing what he’s saying.
We are played by the media and elite’s into arguing about the day’s news while think tanks and lobbyists control legislation and the direction of policy both foreign and domestic.
A capitulation to the left’s ongoing tantrum is just that, capitulation. It’s akin to paying off the hostage takers and wondering why they continue to take hostages.
Biden doesn’t have the power to make any of it go away. In fact, the far left’s foot soldiers will be brought out whenever a crisis arises that needs to be capitalized on.
It is no time to return to a past complete with the failures and policies that benefited the politically connected while hollowing out middle and working classes across the country, using taxpayer aid to finesse personal and professional enrichment. Government service shouldn’t be a way to cash in, but to give back.
We could chose to forge a new path with different solutions to long politicized problems and stop rewarding a political class that cares nothing for those they rule, rather than leading our nation as was intended.
Or we could go back to bowing to dictators and arguing amongst ourselves about things we have zero control over... your choice.
