Society’s failures are nothing new
Published 08-27-2020
The “liberal order” of our society has failed spectacularly. After over 70 year of trying to mess with social order and guarantee outcomes by ignoring reality, the jig is up.
The facade of polite society isn’t just quietly sliding away, mind you. But literally burning up quicker than businesses in Kenosha and Portland.
Our institutions have been corrupted - in business, universities and government. Societal institutions like marriage, family and religion face an onslaught of hatred along with coordinated and sustained attacks; with both domestic political organizations and foreign government entities actively trying to radically transform and destroy every tenet of Western Civilization.
The foundations of society, virtues like civility, respect and humility have most definitely fallen by the wayside and have been replaced with entitlement, greed, hubris and violence.
The institutions that were tasked with preserving our national and civic virtue, a quite novel ideal in the current day, have been perverted and twisted into tools of power and control, for sale to the highest bidders.
Cities have been ignoring those with no voice, living under one party rule that has morphed into enrichment zones for those connected and entrenched. For those on the outside... well, conditions in a lot of American cities wouldn’t be tolerated for prisoners, let alone American citizens. Leaders pay lip service to residents and wield taxpayer budgets as swords of social justice from the safety of taxpayer funded private security while leaving everyone else on their own.
How well has the last twenty five years of liberal leadership been for California?
Half the state is on fire, uncontained and short the necessary bodies required to fight back fires of this scale. Between virus lockdowns and compassionate releases the state lost the prison labor that CalFire is dependent on. And instead of actually living their rhetoric, the state prohibits hiring the same men they trained to fight wildfires, due to them being felons. Of course there’s too much logic present in that plan, letting residents fend for themselves is much better. If I’ve got this straight, voting for felons is ok... just not working. Heck of a coherent policy there.
The income gap, which is a recurring theme in Democrat political speak, has only widened further as California hooked further to the left.
Race relations are headed in the same direction.
And the environment... see water shortages and wildfires as current management examples.
All the societal ills, homelessness, drug abuse, broken families, secularized faith and public lives, generational foreign entanglements; all have been used as weapons against our culture and our national strengths.
More than jobs have been lost in the rush towards globalism.
And we wonder why cities large and small are tinderboxes waiting for a lit match to strike.
Infrastructure and foundational basics.. the uncool parts of leadership are what makes a nation, state, city and locality stable. The problem is you don’t get national exposure and the column inches to fundraise off of by making sure everyone has water and that your city isn’t infested with rats. Providing essential services doesn’t leave as much space in the budget for for all the programs and projects that will inevitably pop up... grant proposal in hand.
Making sure your cities are equipped to handle what day to day life has in store, and contingency plans to handle everything else is prudent, but will not garner chants of “Mic Drop” or “Slay Queen” so prevalent in today’s culture.
Continuation down this path is untenable.
Universities, tasked with educating and training young adults, are hotbeds for Chinese spies under the auspices of research and are increasingly dependent on foreign student dollars to fund ever more leftist college administrations and their policies.
Allowing anarchy to take hold in cities is beyond dangerous. Allowing innocent residents to get caught up in mob violence is unconscionable.
Think it can’t happen on the West Side? Every town and city is one incident away from riots and looting. Kenosha is not a large city by any means, and has historically been held up as an example of Small Town, America.
Nods of agreement and approval for a Speaker of the House who calls her political opponents domestic enemies, in the constitutional sense and on national television, has ramifications within a populace already on edge and experiencing violence playing out nightly. Tomorrow the Speaker will again be commenting on how President Trump has lowered the discourse in our nation to a media that swallows it whole.
We are spending and borrowing as if a dollar never needs to be repaid - whether it’s at the federal level of mandated spending, state governments who need federal bailouts whenever the inevitable emergency happens or local governments leaving their cities to rot and their pension accounts unfunded.
It’s all out of control. Whether you agree with it or not.
Someday the bills will come due, no matter how it was spent.
But, hey, let’s continue to talk about Trump’s supposed bad behavior. It’s quite helpful to the issues facing our nation.
Genuine protest is encouraged and celebrated in America. Using protests as a shield for looting, riots, arson and murder is not, no matter how much liberal leaders try to ignore the crimes.
Aligning with the Communist Chinese government against our own nation, and spreading their propaganda on social media isn’t just politics, and it isn’t only because Donald Trump is on the ticket.
While everyone on the left keeps talking about Russia, China was running a quite large social media operation to capitalize on COVID response and racial divisions. Thousands of accounts touting lockdowns and systemic racism, oh and China’s wonderful response to COVID. Like the Democrats, the CCP hates letting a crisis go to waste... especially when it hurts America.
We are seeing the confluence of cascading failures on multiple levels that began decades ago, many directly tied to the march towards globalism.
Nixon’s Belt and Road strategy played to it’s inevitable conclusion of Communist Chinese ascendancy. Churches hollowed of meaning and conviction, partially of their own doing after abuse scandals rocked parishes and churches across the country. Gutting our manufacturing industries to the point that critical infrastructure must be imported from those that consider us enemies. Opening universities and technological development to foreign programs and partnerships that result in the Chinese Government to acquire classified data and research. The list goes on and on.
Allowing foreign ownership of food and seed production companies, especially China, is a shortsighted move that will cause ripple effects for generations, but has garnered little attention from the larger populace.
Allowing foreign agents to lobby our government, legitimately if they file the right federal form, has lead to all manner of corruption and double dealing. The former Chief of Staff for Senator Chris Coons, who filled Vice President Biden’s old seat in Delaware and dubbed “the Biden Whisperer,” is now a registered foreign agent for Alibaba, which the CCP has a tangible stake in. The former chief of staff is a lifelong friend of Senator Coons, who has said they would still enjoy a close relationship.
Entertainment companies routinely censor themselves to avail themselves of the Chinese market, which is their choice, but that censored content is what’s shared, not the original. Through this type of mechanism China has all but erased the Tiananmen Square massacre and the currently happening Uighur genocide, taken over Hong Kong and put the United States completely over a barrel in terms of medical and essential manufacturing.
Does all of this seem completely wrong to anyone else, or is it just me?
Our society’s failures seem to be bigger than what has occurred since 2016... even if everyone likes to blame the President.
